THE SOLUTION
The WCS site in Andrews County, Texas was selected as a LLRW disposal site due to its location atop a ridge of almost impermeable Dockum red bed clay.
The site’s geology is unsurpassed for permanent disposal of LLRW and it is not over or adjacent to any drinking water supply. WCS operations also enjoy overwhelming public support in the Permian Basin and southeast New Mexico.
Since coming to Andrews County more than 15 year ago, Waste Control Specialists has invested more than $200 million to date developing its disposal facility.
With the recent acquisition of its license to dispose of low-level radioactive waste, WCS holds the most comprehensive set of license to treat, store and permanently dispose of toxic, hazardous and low-level waste.
WCS is uniquely qualified to play a key role in The Texas Solution because its range of disposal capabilities is unmatched, its disposal facility design is without equal and its site geology is unsurpassed.
